Answer

If you are close to the main library of any of our consortium libraries (WRLC), you may drop off the books at their circulation desk. The WRLC delivery service will return them to AU.

If you need to mail the books back to AU:

To avoid fines, first renew your books online. (This can be done up to 3 times unless another borrower requests a hold/recall.)  If you have not exceeded that limit, please renew your books before mailing them. Books from the general collections of the main libraries of WRLC may be renewed online through your library account portal.

Please package the books carefully and send them to this exact address:

It is a good idea to email the Circulation Department and let them know to expect your package:

circulation@american.edu.  If you have questions, call Circulation at 202 885-3238 or send them an email.
