Answer

AU students, faculty and full time staff can access AU electronic books from both on and off campus.

First, locate the book in the library catalog, make certain that it is AU's copy, then click on the link: "Click here to access the electronic text."  From off campus, you will be prompted to log on. On the logon screen, enter your AU

Due to site license restrictions, you do not have access to electronic books owned by other WRLC universities, even though the books are listed in the library catalog.

AU subscribes to electronic books from various vendors, so the interface and capabilites vary by pubisher. E-books will work on most tablets. Electronic books generally cannot be downloaded to a Kindle, Nook or other proprietary e-book reader.  We hope this will capability will be available in the future.

The library has several e-readers pre-loaded with more popular titles that may be borrowed from the Technology Desk.

Technology is rapidly evolving, so please check with the reference librarians for the most up-to-date information.  You may "Ask a Librarian" through IM, email, text, a visit to the Research Assistance (Reference) Desk, or a phone call.  Check out the icons on the right of this page.
