Answer

There are several points of service throughout Bender Library.

The Information Desk, located at the entrance to the Library, is available to answer any library or general campus questions. The staff also enforces library policies (i.e. food, drink and noise levels) and helps with basic technological troubleshooting. More information can be found here.

The Borrowing Desk on the first floor is the main access point to check out, return, and renew books, as well as pay fines and pick up hold items.  Information on AU’s borrowing policies can be found here.

The Research Assistance (Reference) Desk, also on the first floor, can answer all of your research questions. For hours and contact information, click here.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) holds office hours at Bender Library Monday through Friday from 10-6p. Located to the left of the Reference Desk, OIT can help with any questions you may have about AU accounts, e-mail, wireless connectivity, computer software, etc. Their main webpage can be found here.

Directly across from OIT is the new Statistical Consulting Center. Available Fridays from 2-4p, this station offers free assistance with statistics-related problems in clients’ research areas. For more information, click here.

The Technology and Reserves Desk in the lower level of the Library has several types of circulating technology (laptops, headphones, power cords, etc.), as well as all textbooks and other materials put on reserve by faculty. The loan period for items from this desk is usually 2-4 hours.

The New Media Center (NMC), located on the lower level of the library next to Media Services, is a Macintosh computer lab dedicated to supporting multimedia projects from across the curriculum.  For more information, follow this link.

Media Services is home to over 7,000 films and other media materials; the Media Services area also houses classrooms, equipment, & other playback facilities. More information can be found here.
