While on campus, alumni may use most of the library's databases.

The library offers selected databases for alumni to search while off campus. An alumni email and alumni library account and are required.

To activate an alumni account, or recover a password, contact helpdesk @ american.edu

After activating the alumni email and password, visit the Alumni Services Offsite Services page, for links to databases that alumni may search from off campus.

You might find useful information in the many excellent taxpayer-funded US government research studies and publications that are provided to the public online. For more information, please take a look at this FAQ.

Librarians are always happy to assist alumni, so feel free to contact us at Ask-A-Librarian. Please identify yourself as an AU graduate so we can recommend sources available to you.

*Why can't alumni search all of the library's databases while off campus? Someday, we hope a generous alum will donate sufficient millions for us to offer our graduates access to all of our databases; however, right now those licensing fees are significantly beyond the library's means.

If you would like further assistance, please Ask-A-Librarian.
