The fastest way to find a sound recording is to use the dedicated sound recording search on the Music Library page. This search works the same way as the main Library catalog but only displays results from our collection of sound recordings.  Be sure to double-check your spelling and follow the same techniques you would use for a general library search.

Note that call numbers for these items indicate the type of recording:

  • AU Streaming audio indicates audio from a streaming service, available online on and off campus
  • Compact Disc [number] indicates a CD, housed in the Music Library in Katzen
  • [Company name] [number] indicates an LP, housed either in the Music Library or available from storage by request

More information about searching the catalog can be found on the Library's tutorial page.

The Library subscribes to numerous databases that stream contemporary and historical music from around the world.  You can find them and other databases relating to music by visiting the Music Subject Guide.
