You can determine if the library owns your textbook using AU Library Search. Search for the book title (only the title, don't include the author name, publication date, etc) in quotation marks.

Each edition of a book has its own catalog record.  Check the date to determine if it is the year and edition that your professor assigned.

If your textbook is listed, you may borrow it if the location is listed as Available American University Library Library Stacks.  If the location is American University Library Course Reserves, the book may be checked out but has limited circulation, usually two hours.
