Ask the librarians at the RAD to assist you in learning how to register to vote, find the dates of your elections and request an absentee ballot in your state or here in DC.

There are also several online services that can help.

The League of Women Voters maintains www.vote411.org that contains links to boards of elections or voter services for each state and DC. It will direct you to the dates of elections in your state and requirements for obtaining an absentee ballot.  About 4-6 weeks before the election, www.vote411.org has Voter Guides that include candidate information.  Using GIS files, vote411.org will create a sample ballot just for you, based on your voting address.  Vote411 does not collect your name or personal information.

TurboVote.org also has voter registration information. This site does collect your name and personal information.

Also, closer to the election, take a look at Ballotpedia.org 's voter guide information and sample ballots.
