If you're not able to access the newspaper you need through Factiva, on the library's homepage, under RESEARCH ASSISTANCE select FIND JOURNALS. In the search box type the title of the newspaper you want to search.  Many newspapers are covered by more than one database. Check the date range to be sure the time period you want to research is included.

Selecting a database will bring you the database's landing page for the newspaper. From there, you can either search for a specific article title, topic or browse by date. Remember that newspapers do not use subject headings.  The terms you search must appear in the article.

You can also try browsing newspaper titles in PressReader, which has the most recent two months of over 400 U.S. and international newspapers, including many in other languages.

Other good library databases for reading current news are:

  • Access World News Research Collection
  • Nexis Uni
  • ProQuest Newsstream

Also Look at the Subject Guide for News and Newspapers.

Current AU students, faculty and staff may use the databases from anywhere in the world with Internet access.  You will be prompted to log-on with your portal credentials.
