What is LibKey Nomad?
LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that provides quick, easy access to full text articles – subscribed to by AU Library – on the open web. Available for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, and other browsers, LibKey Nomad works with many scholarly publishers' websites, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Wikipedia.
Why use LibKey Nomad?
Using LibKey Nomad saves you time by reducing the number of clicks needed to access library materials from the open web and allowing you to connect to AU Library from anywhere. Quickly and easily see if the materials you need are available to you through the library. LibKey Nomad is available to use on or off campus, with or without VPN, and no account creation is required.
Is it safe to use?
The only information you enter into LibKey Nomad is your institution name: American University. This information is stored locally on your computer.
Once you encounter a LibKey Nomad link, you will be directed to AU Library's service for the article and will log in via AU's Sign In page.
How do I get it?
Chrome/Edge/Firefox users:

Go to this link on the LibKey webpage to select your browser: https://bit.ly/AUnomad

Install the extension when prompted.

In the LibKey Nomad extension pop-up, select American University as your organization:
Safari users:

Go to this link on the LibKey webpage to select your browser: https://bit.ly/AUnomad

When prompted, open the Mac App Store (it may open automatically).

Click “Get” → “Install” → “Open” to install and open the app.

In the LibKey Nomad App, follow these instructions to change Safari’s permissions.
- In the last step, select “American University” as your organization.
- You may also have to click a banner in Safari to “Turn on new extension”.
