Current Issues of the New York Times:

The library provides Academic Pass accounts to NYTimes.com to AU students, faculty and staff.

Already registered for an account via AU Library?
Visit https://www.nytimes.com and log in with your @american.edu address and the password you set up.

To register for your account:

  1. Visit our account registration page
  2. Click on 'Create Account'
  3. Register using your AU email address and click 'Continue'
  4. Create a password

Note: If you have an existing paid NYT subscription linked to your AU email address, you must cancel it before linking your account to the library's subscription by contacting Customer Care by email at customercare@nytimes.com, calling 800-591-9233, or chat

Once you have registered, visit nytimes.com, click the blue Log In button, and sign in to your account.

The Academic Pass provides unlimited access to archived articles published from 1981 to present.
Each day you can access up to 5 articles published between the years 1923 through 1980.
Academic Passes do not include e-reader editions, NYT Cooking, or New York Times Games content.
iOS and Android apps are available, but note that NYTimes apps are not supported on all devices.

Having trouble activating or accessing your new account? You may send email along with a screenshot of the error page to edu@nytimes.com for troubleshooting support.
Having trouble accessing your existing account? You may need to renew your registration. Visit the account registration page again and click the link labeled 'Already have an account? Log in here »'

Historical Issues:

To search historical issues of the New York Times, go to the library's homepage, click on the 'Databases' tab of the unified search tool and search for "New York Times - Historical".
