For security reasons, AU requires a multi-factor authentication app to add a second layer of security to your logins for many of our online systems and services, including the VPN & many library online databases.
While everyone agrees this is a nuisance, verifying your identity using a second factor (like your phone or other mobile device) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.
