Archives & Special Collections receives many requests for historical information about former American University faculty, instructors/lecturers, and staff. However, syllabi, personal papers and research files, and course materials are not transferred to archives unless an individual has explicitly decided to do so. These materials are not part of mandated records management transfers. Likewise, employment files are confidential and never transferred to our unit.
AU Archives collections generally include records of faculty and staff and their activities if they themselves donated materials or a full collection, administrative records of their department or within governance structures, and/or if they are mentioned in an AU publication (such as The Eagle newspaper, faculty and staff newsletters, the Yearbooks, or other publications etc).
The majority of our older university publications have been digitized and are available online in our Digital Collections repository, a fully searchable site that includes digitized materials from our collections and also links to our collections in the Internet Archive. Researchers are encourage to browse and search within the repository using the various spellings of the name you mentioned along with other keywords you think might be useful.
Of note - the course catalogs are particularly good at indicating rank and status for any given year.
Additional sources available only in-person, include former Faculty/Staff files, which are partially restricted and require Archives staff review before opening access; university photo collections; schedule of classes; and faculty/staff directories.
